As you may have heard, Microsoft is officially shutting down Skype on 5th May 2025. To ensure a smooth transition, we are moving to Google Workspace Chat and Google Meet as our official communication platforms for chat and video calls.
For those clients and partners who require Microsoft Teams, we will continue to offer support for Teams as well. However, we encourage all users to adopt Google Chat as our primary platform for internal and external communication.
Why the Change?
- Skype is being discontinued and will no longer receive updates or support from Microsoft.
- Google Chat & Meet provide a seamless experience with our existing Google Workspace ecosystem.
- Enhanced security and integration with Google Drive, Gmail, and Calendar.
- Better collaboration tools including group conversations, file sharing, and video meetings.
How to Back Up Your Skype Chat History
- If you need to save your old Skype conversations before the shutdown, follow these steps:
- Sign in to Skype and go to Skype Export Page.
- Click Download your profile & chat history.
- Microsoft will generate a downloadable file (this may take some time depending on your history size).
- Once ready, download the file and store it securely for future reference.
- Direct link to the message viewer is also available at https://go.skype.com/skype-parser
How to Move to Microsoft Teams (Insider Program)
For those who prefer Microsoft Teams, Microsoft offers an easy transition via the Insider Program:

- Install Microsoft Teams – Download the latest version from Microsoft Teams.
- Once logged in if its not already showing your contacts & conversations synced, click on the 3 horizontal dots next to your profile details on the top right corner and select “Teams insider programme”
Next Steps for All Users

- If you require Microsoft Teams, we will continue to provide it, but we encourage Google Chat.
- Back up your Skype chats before it shuts down.
